Tahini Fudge Fat Bombs
FOOD AS MEDICINE
Tahini is a great substitute for nut butter in any recipe and can add fat and flavor while helping you mix up your real food keto regimen! Made from ground sesame seeds, it is a rich source of B vitamins including thiamin along with important minerals such as magnesium, zinc and calcium. The lignans in sesame seeds have been seen to promote cardiovascular health and regulate cholesterol. Sesame seeds are also used to balance female hormones and are commonly referred to in seed cycling protocols which advocate for sesame seeds in the post-ovulatory phase starting around day 15 of your cycle. Ensure tahini is free of added oils–this should be a single ingredient food that just contains sesame seeds! This tahini fudge fat bomb can be used as a snack to provide healthy fats and satiety between meals or as a treat to round out a meal to help hit your fat macros. The tahini is combined with coconut oil and butter as a rich source of MCTs to support ketone production as well as antimicrobial properties. The addition of cacao nibs provides texture and crunch and the coarse sea salt sprinkled on at the end makes these a total sweet-savory flavor bomb! Note: these fat bombs are not to be used during a fat fast as they do contain carbs and protein!
3/4 cup tahini
1/2 cup coconut butter, softened
1/4 cup coconut oil, softened
2 scoops collagen protein (we like Further Food)
1 Tbsp maple syrup (optional)
1 tsp vanilla extract
